SLB wins offshore drilling contracts from Mubadala Energy in Indonesia

SLB has secured multiple offshore drilling contracts from UAE-based Mubadala Energy for a deepwater gas development in Indonesia, the company said on Thursday.

The contracts cover integrated drilling and well services for the Tangkulo gasfield in the Andaman Sea, with first gas expected before the end of 2028. The work scope includes drilling fluids, cementing, completions and testing across the full well life cycle.

“This contract award reflects Mubadala Energy’s strategic vision to develop Indonesia’s offshore resources responsibly and efficiently,” Mubadala Energy Indonesia president director Abdulla Bu Ali said.

SLB will deploy advanced deepwater technologies such as real-time downhole monitoring to improve well placement, safety and project economics. The contracts were awarded following a competitive tender process.

Mubadala Energy is an international energy company based in Abu Dhabi, with assets in 11 countries and a strong focus on natural gas and Southeast Asia. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company.
